Annu Tandon's philosophy of social service:
Annu Tandon believes that changes take place in the mind. No amount of external assistance and charity can bring about the positive and sustainable change in the rural Indians' lives unless they become conscious about their problems and grow the conviction to reach out, avail, try and achieve the solutions.
So, for Annu Tandon, social service is not just accesorising rural poor with some temporary or stopgap kind of 'help', but awakening their souls to the worth of their life and the standard of living they deserve as Indian citizens. She also believes in working together with villagers towards achieving the standard of life they deserve.
Therefore, Annu Tandon strives to reach out to people and create awareness in them through informative counselling, interactive communications and motivating sessions — discussing their developmental needs and how they can collectively fulfill them or improve what they have. She tries to involve the villagers as much as possible in her Trust's projects because she believes a small step goes a long way in setting an example and start a revolution.
Annu Tandon also believes that educating and grooming up the village children properly is very important, as they are the future citizens, torchbearers of a better tomorrow, responsible for the welfare and upliftment of the villages. It's easy to mould them in that direction and they are adaptable to the values, attributes and skill sets required to mobilise progress in the villages.
