HNDCT was established in the memory of Late Hriday Narain Dhawan (lovingly known as Punni), father of Smt Annu Tandon, the Chairperson of the Trust. It drew inspiration from his life and work (1926-1986). Late Kripavati Dhawan(Ela) (1930-2001), wife of Late Hriday Narain Dhawan, helped HNDCT to set out on its mission with her blessings and the initial fund.

HNDCT enjoys the never-dying support of the Trustees, driven by Annu Tandon's total commitment towards the Trust's mission. The dedicated services by the mentors and volunteers help the organisation carry out all its projects successfully.

Mission

Shri Hriday Narain Dhawan Charitable Trust (HNDCT) founded in 1999 works for the upliftment and development of the villages of Uttar Pradesh, presently the district of Unnao being the centre of activities. The Trust's vision is to usher in sustainable and holistic improvement in the lives of the rural poor in Uttar Pradesh — education, health and general living condition receiving the utmost attention.

HNDCT believes, it is not just external assistance and charity that can bring a sustainable positive change in the life at the villages in Uttar Pradesh. Awareness in the villagers' mind about the importance and relevance of education, proper hygiene and healthy lifestyle, and economic self-reliance can lay a strong foundation for overall development. Therefore the Trust aims to channelise all its endeavours towards that direction.

HNDCT makes it a point to involve villagers as much as possible in its projects so that they become conscious of their developmental needs, develop keenness in improving their living condition by taking initiative and participating in the Trust's projects.
